I spent the last three years building ML tools that help maths tutors get better at helping kids learn. As a Sr. Research Software Engineer at Saga, I built an ML speech-processing pipeline (transcription, speaker diarization, video compositing) that allows tutors to review their sessions without distractions, LLM-based tools for giving them personalized and actionable feedback grounded in pedagogical research, and worked with university researchers studying what actually makes tutoring effective.
I’m currently exploring what’s next, so if you’re working on interesting problems in AI, education, or research tooling, I’d love to hear about it.
Education
I’ve earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the Univeristy of Münster, Germany, focussing on Algorithmic Graph Theory. I have also earned a Bachelor and Master of Science in Physics at the Universities of Münster and Heidelberg, respectively. Following that, I received a Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) for Physics from the University of Heidelberg, specializing in Particle Physics Phenomenology.
Personal Life
Hailing from Germany, I now live in State College, PA. Aside from particle physics and software engineering, I am passionate about fantasy novels, board games, and baking breads and pastries I can’t buy here.
